Today is a Jewish festival called Purim. It was in the ancient Persian empire that a power hungry corrupt man called Haman wanted to divide and rule and wanted to kill the Jews. The heroine of the story Esther risked her own life by standing up to the king and persuaded him to help save the Jews.
Fast forward to today and the lesson to learn still applies that however hard it is we must always stand up and be counted for what’s right. We have modern day Hamans around the world causing divisions and pitching “us versus them”. We only saw last weekend the truly awful shootings in New Zealand.
I have always believed the right way in life is inclusion and respect of difference and celebration of what unites us. At RedLaw we will always serve from the heart and focus on a true inclusive team spirit.
Today is a celebration of bravery and triumph of good over evil so I have brought in traditional Jewish pastries baked (by a Jewish bakery) yesterday for the team to share especially for this festival.
It’s a symbolic food. Its three corners represent the three corners of Hamans hat and the seeds filling represents the failed bribes Haman tried to use.
