We caught up with Peter Jackson, Hill Dickinson, to give us insight into daily life of a Chief Executive at a city law firm:
RedLaw: What time do you say good morning?
Peter Jackson: 5.00am although it’s had a 4 in front of it too often recently.
RL: Tea or Coffee?
PJ: Coffee?
RL: Red or white wine?
PJ: Neither – still on the wagon.
RL: Currently Reading?
PJ: The latest Jack Reacher.
RL: Favourite restaurant?
PJ: Scene 51 at Pier 7, Dubai Marina.
RL: Favourite film?
PJ: The Quiet Man
RL: Football or rugby?
PJ: Football. Koppite forever. Klopp will see us right.
RL: How do you spend your weekends?
PJ: Sport, working, gym, Strictly Come Dancing/catching up on the box-sets
RL: If you weren’t a lawyer what would you be?
PJ: Chief Executive of Liverpool Football Club or Managing Director of English Cricket. Or Jack Reacher (in my dreams, although even I’m taller than the screen version).
RL: What’s the best thing about your job?
PJ: The people.
RL: If your life was a film, who would play you?
PJ: Stephen Graham
RL: What’s your proudest career moment/achievement?
PJ: Representing the FSA at the Hillsborough Enquiry and reading Taylor LJ’s interim report.
RL: If you could go back in time 10 years, what advice would you give yourself?
PJ: For me, go to a good business school and learn how to run a professional services firm.
RL: Describe the firm culture in 3 words?
PJ: Approachable, hardworking, relaxed
RL: The firm’s areas of growth for the next 12 months?
PJ: Health sector and commercial generally. Plus we’ve just hired in for both shipping and insurance and would hope to see rewards in both areas.
RL: What time do you say good night?
PJ: 10pm, unless I am out on business.
